Describing Expectation
When we talk about describing expectation, we will talk about something that will happen in the future or something that would happen in the past.

Nothing or nobody is totally certain about the future. We can try to expect things, plan things, and intend to do things but we can never sure what will really happen then.

We can state our expectation to give ideas to people how strong our expectation about something. We are expecting something that would happen in the past or something that will happen in the future.

There are some expressions that we can use to describe our expectation. Those are:
- there's no doubt at all
- it's sure
- it'll probably
- I expect
- I wouldn't be surprised
- I daresay
- Perhaps
- I've no idea
- There's a chance
- I suppose/it's supposed/I'm supposed
- It will possibly

SITUATIONAL CONVERSATION:

A. Hi, Eva. It has been a long time since I saw you. Where have you been?
B: I just came back from my holiday.
A: Where did you spend your holiday?
B: In Korea. How about you? Are you taking any holiday this year?
A: Well, I got a there-week-holiday in Bali last January. I think I'll probably take a week holiday in June and perhaps another holiday in December.
B: Do you think you'll go away then?
A: I think it's very unlikely that I'll have enough money to go away in June. But, hopefully, I'll be able to go away for two weeks in December.
B: I think it's a good idea to go away in December. So, you can celebrate Christmas day in different place. I guess the weather will probably be nice. By the way, where will you go?
A: I will possibly go to Europe to enjoy white Christmas there.
B: What if you find out you can't go away in December?
A: Yeah, if I have to stay around the city, I suppose I will celebrate it with my family.
B: During the holiday, do you want to do another activity?
A: Well, as what I have said before, it really depends on the situation. If there's a chance, I try to gather with some of my old friends. But I won't be really surprised if I can't gather with them. Of course, they will be busy with their own families.
B: Don't be sad. You still have me to gather with on Christmas day.
A: That's kind of you. Thanks anyway.
