Before talking about reported speech, we have to know about quoted speech.
⚫ Quoted speech refers to the reproduction of another person's exact words. Quotation marks are used."
⚫ Reported speech refers to the reproduction of idea of another person's words. Not all of the exact words are used; verb forms and pronouns may change Quotation marks are not used.

J: Alice, do you know how to cure sore throat?
A: Just drink a lot of water and take some vitamin C. I watched "Hello Doctor" show, they said that it was good for our body especially when you got sore throat or flu.
J: I have done it. It has been useless. My doctor said that he couldn't find the reason, everything was fine.
A: Well, it's very strange or maybe you can try an alternative healing.
J: What is it like?
A. I watched on TV, you know that I am a TV freak. They said that there was a boy who found a magic stone that could cure all kinds of diseases.
J: Hmmm. It sounds strange. What kind of stone is that?
A: The boy said that it came from heaven. Many people have come and tried it.
J: Oh I see. Hey, wait a minute Alice. My mom is calling
A: Ok
After a while
A: What did your mom say?
J: She said that she had bought me Ester C from Mr. Reiza. "It is good for you and the price is reasonable as well", Mr. Reiza said like that.
A: Ok. Maybe you have to try it. At least it's better than the magic stone. He he he
J: Yes you're right. Thanks Alice.
A: Get well soon Jacob.
J: I will. Take care of yourself too.
A: Sure.
