A: What time do you finish working?
B: I finish working at 04.00 pm.
A: Do you want to go home directly?
B: Yes, I do. I want to watch the football match on the television.
A: Do you like watching television in the evening?
B: Yes, I do.

'I finish working ...' in this sentece the word 'working' is Gerund.

GERUND

Gerund is the -ING form of a verb that is used as a noun. A gerund is used on the same ways as a noun.
GERUND CAN BE USED AS SUBJECTS:
- Playing  basket ball is tiring.
- Swimming can make you healthy.
- Smoking is not good for your health.
GERUND CAN BE USED AS OBJECTS:
- She enjoys dancing.
- I like playing chess.
- She often avoids meeting her ex-boy friend.

The verbs that can be followed by gerunds: 
ENJOY - She enjoy studying
MIND - I don't mind helping them
QUIT -  He ia quit working last week
GIVE UP - He gave up asking questions
FINISH - I finish working at 5.00 pm
STOP - stop smoking, please!
AVOID - He avoid meeting his ex-girl friend
POSTPONE - We will postpone going to Jakarta
DELAY - We will delay holding the meeting
KEEP - keep studying, please!
CONSIDER - They are considering breaking up
DISCUSS - They are discussed buying a new car.
MENTION - He mentioned continuing his study abroad
SUGGEST - They suggested hiring a sedan

Gerund can be used as objects preposition
- He is good at playing chess
- She is excited about going to Besakih Temple
- He ia bored with working in an office

Gerund can also be used as noun complements:
- My hobby is swimming
- Her main activity is singing

'I want to watch the football match on television ' in this sentece the word 'to watch' is INFINITIVE

Invinitive is TO plus SIMPLE FORM OF A VERB. Infinite is used as noun. Therefore, infinitive can be used as a subject, an objects of the verb and a complements.

Infinitive can be used as SUBJECTS
- TO SAVE SOME MONEY seems difficult now
- TO COMPROMISE appears advisible

Infinitive can be used as OBJECTS
- We agreed TO PAY 100.000,- rupiahs
- She wants TO STUDY abroad

Verbs that can be followed by invinitives:
- HOPE: I hope to meet you soon
- PLAN: She plans to buy a new mobile phone
- DECIDE: I decided to move to a new house
- PROMISE: He promise to pick her up at 08.00 am.
- OFFER: He offered to lend me some money
- REFUSE: He refused to come early morning
- SEEM: She seem to have a bad habit
- PRETEND: She pretended not to know me
- EXPECT: He expect to graduate soon
- NEED: She needs to come early

Infinitive can be the complement of the verb:
- Her plan is TO KEEP THE AFFAIR SECRET
- Her proposal is TO PROVIDE MORE HEALTHY FOOD FOR SMANBARA STUDENTS

Some verbs can be followed by GERUND and can also be followed by INFINITIVES. They will be listed in this order.
- BEGIN: It began raining/It began to rain
- START: She started writing/She started to write
- CONTINUE: He continued studying/He continued to study
- LIKE: I like reading/I like to read
- LOVE: She loves dancing/She loves to dance
- HATE: I hate singing/ I hate to sing

SITUATIONAL CONVERSATION
A: It's heavy rain. When did it begin to rain?
B: It began to rain at 10.00 pm.
A: I was sleeping when it began to rain.
B: What time did you start sleeping?
A: I started sleeping at 09.00 pm. I was very tired.
